Arkansas School Grades 2026 Are Out: ATLAS Scores, A–F Ratings & What Parents Need to Know

Arkansas school grades for the 2025–26 school year are now out.

The Arkansas Department of Education released the latest A–F school and district ratings on 17 September 2026, and parents can now view updated performance information through the state's My School Info system.

But if you have opened your child's school report and found yourself staring at an A, B, C, D or F alongside ATLAS achievement and growth data, you may be wondering:

What does any of this actually tell me about my child?

That is the important question.

Where can parents check Arkansas school grades 2026?

Parents can search for their child's school or district through the official Arkansas My School Info portal.

The updated report cards allow families to look beyond the headline letter grade and explore information such as:

academic achievement student growth English Language Arts performance Mathematics performance Science performance graduation and readiness measures where applicable

Arkansas says the updated school and district grades use achievement, growth and readiness measures rather than relying on one test score alone.

What does an A–F Arkansas school grade mean?

First, an important distinction:

Your school's letter grade is not your child's individual grade.

A school may receive a B or C while your child is performing well above grade level.

Likewise, a highly rated school does not automatically mean every individual student is secure in Maths, English or Science.

The school rating combines broader measures of student performance and growth.

For parents, the next step should therefore be to look at your child's own ATLAS performance, not stop at the school letter.

What do ATLAS Levels 1–4 mean?

Arkansas reports ATLAS student performance across four levels.

Level 1: Your child is significantly behind grade-level expectations and may need substantial academic support.

Level 2: Your child is at or near grade-level expectations but has not yet demonstrated consistent mastery.

Level 3: Your child is meeting grade-level expectations.

Level 4: Your child is exceeding grade-level expectations and may benefit from further challenge or enrichment.

For many parents, Level 2 is particularly important.

A Level 2 result does not necessarily mean a child understands nothing. It can mean that some foundations are there, but the student is not yet consistently demonstrating the skills expected at that grade level.

That is often the point where targeted support can make a meaningful difference.

How did Arkansas students perform on ATLAS in 2026?

Statewide Spring 2026 ATLAS proficiency reached:

39.5% in English Language Arts 44.2% in Mathematics * 44.0% in Science

Overall proficiency across the assessment increased to 42.2% in 2026, according to the state's results summary.

Those statewide numbers provide context — but they should not become the main focus for your family.

The more useful question is:

Where is my child currently losing marks?

If your child's ATLAS score is lower than expected, start here

Do not respond by immediately giving your child hours of extra worksheets.

First identify the actual gap.

For Maths, ask:

Are basic number skills secure? Are fractions, percentages or algebra causing problems? Does your child understand Maths but struggle with word problems? Are careless mistakes lowering otherwise good performance?

For English, look at:

reading comprehension vocabulary identifying evidence from a text grammar * written reasoning

For Science, determine whether the issue is understanding the content or applying knowledge to unfamiliar questions.

The score tells you there is a problem. The mistakes tell you what the problem actually is.

What should parents do with the 2026 results?

Use the results as a starting point, not simply as a label.

If your child is at Level 1 or Level 2, identify the specific standards or topics where they need support.

If your child is already at Level 3, look at what is preventing them from consistently reaching the next level.

And if your child is at Level 4, they may need more challenging work rather than simply repeating grade-level exercises.

The 2026 results are most useful now, while there is still an entire school year to strengthen weaker skills.
